Awards

The reward system is rooted in our school values, and is designed to encourage an excellent attitude to learning, community action and a desire for continual self-improvement.

Awards from Year 7 to 11

Students will work towards being awarded a coloured tie: Bronze, Silver and Gold.

A total of 150 points per tie, spread across the three areas.

Wider Community Awards

Students may be participating within the wider community outside of school. We encourage students to record and document their involvement, fundraising and any volunteering positions. We wish to reward these students dedication, skills or community work.

GOLD

Students will ‘graduate’ through the levels. As soon as they are awarded their first tie, they start collecting for the next.

  • Reward points given are carried through until Year 11, if the tie criteria has not been fully achieved reward certificates are issued by the Year Teams at the end of each academic year.
  • To achieve each tie you will be accessed on the point system and a discussion will be had between your Year Team.

Gold Tie

If you have achieved the threshold for a Gold tie before Year 10 students will need to write a letter of application stating their reasons why they deserve the tie which will be given to their Head of Year for consideration.

All students who have been awarded the Gold tie, should be recognised and continue to be a role model in school.

Once students are proudly wearing their Gold tie, they will continue to collect rewards, of which they will be recognised through certificates and other opportunities. Gold Tie students should be encouraged to take on positions of responsibility or leadership and work towards receipt of the Hart Award or Gillingham Town Council Youth Award.

Please watch the video for an explanation by the students themselves of this programme in action.
