Choosing your A Levels is an exciting step towards your future. Whether you plan to progress to university, an apprenticeship or a rewarding career, Sixth Form gives you the opportunity to study subjects in greater depth while developing the independence and academic skills needed for success.

To help you make a confident start, we have created our A Level Course Preparation programme. These resources are designed to support your transition from GCSE to A Level, introducing you to key topics, essential skills and the style of learning you can expect in your chosen subjects.

Studying A Levels is very different from GCSEs. You will explore more challenging concepts, think critically, carry out independent research, and apply your knowledge to new and complex situations. Throughout your courses, you will analyse, evaluate and solve problems while developing the skills valued by universities and employers.

Our A Level preparation resources will help you:

  • Become familiar with the content and expectations of your chosen A Level courses.
  • Develop independent study, research and academic skills.
  • Build confidence before your first Sixth Form lessons.
  • Prepare for a successful transition from GCSE to A Level.

Before You Join Us

We encourage you to complete preparatory work before joining our Sixth Form in September. Please bring your completed research tasks and reflections to your first lesson. You may present your work digitally or in handwritten form and can be as creative as you like.

Completing these activities will give you a strong foundation for your studies and help you make the most of your A Level courses from day one. By investing time in your preparation, you will arrive ready to learn, ready to succeed and ready to take advantage of the many opportunities our Sixth Form has to offer.
